About the Dutch Ophthalmology PhD Students conference meetings
With this meeting we hope to bring the ophthalmological PhD students from the Netherlands and Belgium closer together. It will be an excellent opportunity to get to know each other and each other’s research topics. Various prizes will be available for the best presenters and presentations. And there is more to this meeting. Because not only can we learn from our own experience, we also provide the possibility to participate in workshops and lectures. The program will also include one or more keynote speakers and/or discussion panels who will give us all the ins and outs about their own experiences with research and their career after their PhD graduation. On Friday evening, the program continues with an informal evening. Dinner will be followed by a fantastic evening program!
What makes this conference meeting special is that the entire organization, chairing of sessions and jury positions are in hand of PhD students. We think it's great to have such a meeting in the field of ophthalmology and up until now we have had great pleasure in organizing this wonderful event.
The Dutch Ophthalmology PhD Students Conference was first organized in 2012 by PhD students of the Radboud university medical center, Nijmegen and Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam. Following on the legacy of this successful conference, the next conferences were organized by a collaboration of PhD students between the Radboudumc and another major ophthalmic research center. These DOPS conferences give excellent opportunities to get to know other PhD students and their research topics. PhD students can present their work in a similar way as they would at the annual ARVO meetings and attend theme-related keynotes. DOPS also provides the possibility to participate in different workshops and courses. What makes this conference special is that the entire organization, chairing of sessions, and jury positions are in hand of PhD-students. As an official part of the ARVO-NED, we think it is great to have such a meeting in the field of ophthalmology that brings PhD students from the Netherlands and Belgium closer together.
